Herrera Art
Helena
I learned to mix colors at an early age from my Cuban grandmother Blanca Herrera. She would take me to her adult art classes. I am reminded of her when I paint. She had me convinced that the young boy in her painting was holding candy. I could smell it. Now when I paint I immerse myself like she did.
Though I travel around the world, I have a home art studio in Austin Texas where I have lived for 12 years.
I am inspired by people and places I have met in my travels. The unusual draws my eye. Vibrant colors and textures connect us and are interwoven in everything we see and do. I embrace the vividness around me and try to share it on the canvas, as the oils bring it all back to life.
